Compensation Recovery Scheme NI, Department for Communities, recovers Social Security benefits from compensators (generally insurance companies) where people have received compensation for an accident, injury or disease, and who have claimed benefits as a consequence. It also recovers health Service hospital charges and ambulance charges arising from all accidents where a compensation payment has been made on behalf of the Department of Health (DoH). All monies recovered for DoH are paid directly to the HS Trust which provided the treatment.
