Community Resuscitation Strategy 2014 suggests >1000 AEDs outside hospitals in NI, but no comprehensive record of ownership and location. It also states Ambulance Service will maintain a register of PADs/AEDs in NI.
A database is now being compiled by NIAS, allowing owners to register device information http://www.nias.hscni.net/our-services/test-2/
There are a number of apps and services that collate information on AED locations and are used by the public to locate AEDs. Adding the data that is currently being collected will have large benefits for awareness of the location of the nearest PAD.
An open database will also allow potential holders (offices, community groups, building owners etc) or providers/funders to identify areas with a deficit of PADs.
