Open Data Strategy Launch event Monday 14th October

September 13, 2019

Open Data advocates in Northern Ireland will by now know that we have been working hard in recent months to refresh the Open Data Strategy for Northern Ireland.

To inform the direction of the new Strategy, the Open Data Team ran an online consultation, and also held a series of workshops, to gather information on what the new Strategy should focus on, with a view to meeting the needs and expectations of the local open data community.

The feedback we received helped to crystallise what the Strategy should seek to do and how it should do it, in order to drive increased levels of public sector data publication, as well as to help promote and stimulate re-use of data for a whole range of purposes.

The Open Data Team would like to thank everyone who contributed during the consultation process; we appreciate your support in helping us determine the direction of the Strategy.

The new Strategy will be formally launched by Sue Gray, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Finance on Monday 14th October (9.30am to 12 noon) at Skainos Centre, 241 Newtownards Road, Belfast.

Anyone interested in coming along is welcome to join us and hear about the aims of the Strategy and the initiatives that it will underpin as we seek to build on successes to date and accelerate data publication and potential re-use.

In addition to hearing about the Strategy, we will also have some guest presenters giving their own take on how Open Data has been of benefit to them and will be key to their future development in the spheres of Transparency, Commerce & Enterprise, and City planning.
